The company
eventmark was founded in 2004 by
John Rose, who has more than 20 years' experience in events, marketing and
administration in the public and private sectors.
Prior to establishing eventmark he was
Director of Major Events for the New South Wales State Government.
In that position he played a major role
in development and administration of the government's special events programs,
including New South Wales Hallmark Events, Regional Flagship Events, the New South Wales Major Events
Board and state bids for or financial support of a wide range of events.
Events in which he
has played a significant
role include the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the 2003 Rugby World Cup, the
Australian and World Masters Games, the Tennis Masters Cup, the Track Cycling
World Cup, the Sydney 2002 Gay Games, the Australian Surf Lifesaving
Championships and the Lions World Congress 2010.
He was also principally involved in the
government's financial support for or development of events such as the Festival
of Sydney, the Sydney Film Festival, the Sydney Writers' Festival, Mercedes
Australian Fashion Week, the Biennale of Sydney and Chinese New Year.
His previous experience has
encompassed events ranging from the Sun-Herald Teddy Bears' Picnic and the
Sun-Herald City to Surf to international conferences and symposia and the
Australian Bicentennial celebrations.
He has also worked in print and
electronic media, including senior positions with the Australian Broadcasting
Corporation, and in university marketing, including institutional branding,
student recruitment, corporate fundraising and sponsorship, community relations and media
management.
He is a professional member of the
Australian Tourism Research Institute and a member of the Advisory Board of the
Australian Centre for Event Management at the University of Technology Sydney.
eventmark has established strong
working connections with a number of key organisations in the events, sports and
cultural marketing industries, ranging from high-touch hospitality and incentive
programs to sponsorship marketing, from policy development and capacity auditing
to consumer surveys and market analysis, and from government events agencies to
event ticketing firms.
